NOT ENTIRELY CANON COMPLIANT

Written for the prompt 'all this foolishness about moons and blossoms' at 31_days.
Series
: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Character/Pairing: Katara, Zuko
Rating/Warnings: G. Poetry!fic.

There is an understanding

Of red blossoms, the bite

And press of a thumbnail in the thick petal

The glassy skin of her wide knuckles,

Worn by the water.

There is a belief this Fire Lord holds

In loss, in thin bowls that show your hands

Right though the clay.

There is the moon

Holding the night strung out on its light.

It is a comfort they can both believe in.

This is lovely.

There are so many things to chew on here. (You always manage to say so much with so few words, which is something I struggle with). I really like the image of holding a belief in loss.

And complying with canon? Pfft.
