There is an understanding
Of red blossoms, the bite
And press of a thumbnail in the thick petal
The glassy skin of her wide knuckles,
Worn by the water.
There is a belief this Fire Lord holds
In loss, in thin bowls that show your hands
Right though the clay.
There is the moon
Holding the night strung out on its light.
It is a comfort they can both believe in.

And complying with canon? Pfft.

Though it's not so much that I'm bashful about chucking out canon as that (IN MY HEAD) this poem comes with a whole involved backstory about WOE and break-ups and the death of significant others and THE CRUSHING OF DREEEAMS. So I felt the need to reassure myself!
